    나비목[鱗翅目]호랑나비과의 곤충.
    주로 동양권에 분포하는 대표적 나비로 옛명칭은 호접(胡蝶)이라 한다. 봄형과 여름형이 있으며 암컷은 수컷보다 조금 크다.
    중실 기부(基部)에서 중실 끝까지 황백색 줄무늬가 뚜렷하여 근연종인 산호랑나비와 쉽게 구별된다.
